TEKsystems and Experis are two of the largest IT staffing brands serving US employers. TEKsystems, part of Allegis Group, is the volume leader for contract IT talent, while Experis, ManpowerGroup's tech brand, leans on global reach and managed services. Both run the traditional model: markup on contractor bill rates, percentage fees on direct hires, and account managers in the middle.

We work in this industry every day, so I will be upfront about our bias. Hyring runs an AI-native recruitment agency with delivery teams in the US and India, and we appear as a third column in every table below. When a US engineering leader compares these two firms, the real question is usually not "which brand." It is "what am I paying for, and is there a cheaper way that still works." Often there is.

Quick Verdict

TEKsystems suits high-volume US contract IT hiring, Experis suits multi-country programs, and flat-fee AI-native agencies undercut both on cost.

Pick TEKsystems

When you need 20 contract developers in Dallas by next month and want deep local bench strength in US metros.

Pick Experis

When your program spans the US, Europe, and APAC and you want one vendor with a managed-services wrapper.

Pick Hyring

When cost per hire matters. Flat 7% on India hires, 14% on US hires, and staff augmentation around 30% below big-firm quotes.

Who Are TEKsystems and Experis?

TEKsystems is Allegis Group's IT staffing brand; Experis is ManpowerGroup's technology talent brand operating across 75+ countries.

TEKsystems grew out of Aerotek's technology practice and became the default IT staffing call for a large share of Fortune 500 IT departments. Tens of thousands of consultants on billing at any time. Local offices across most major US metros. Their sweet spot is contract and contract-to-hire placement of developers, infrastructure engineers, and full project teams.

Experis is the tech arm of ManpowerGroup, which places roughly 485,000 workers per day across its brands. Experis sells three things: IT resourcing (contractors), permanent recruitment, and managed services where they take over a whole function. Their pitch is global consistency. One master agreement, many countries.

Both are excellent at what they built. Both are also expensive in ways that are hard to see from the outside, which brings us to fees.

How Do Their IT Staff Augmentation Models Differ?

TEKsystems staffs US-heavy contract teams through local branches, while Experis blends contractors with managed services and offshore delivery centers.

Here is the practical difference. TEKsystems assigns your account to a branch, and recruiters work their local network plus national databases. Strong for on-site and hybrid roles in US metros. Experis will more readily propose a blended model: some US contractors, some nearshore, wrapped in an SLA.

Neither firm defaults to the model we think most mid-market US companies should at least price out: remote IT staff augmentation from India, at Indian salary levels, with US-hours overlap. A senior React developer who costs a client $130,000 to $160,000 a year through a US contractor model can cost $40,000 to $60,000 fully loaded as a dedicated remote engineer. Same standup, same Jira board. That arbitrage is the single biggest lever in IT staffing right now, and the big brands have little incentive to lead with it because it shrinks their billing base.

What Do TEKsystems and Experis Actually Cost?

Traditional IT staffing firms charge 40 to 60% markups on contractor pay and 20 to 25% of salary on direct hires.

  • Contract staffing markup: typically 40 to 60% over the contractor's pay rate. A developer earning $70/hour bills to you at roughly $100 to $112/hour.
  • Direct hire fee: typically 20 to 25% of first-year salary. On a $140,000 engineer, that is $28,000 to $35,000 for one placement.
  • RPO and managed services: custom pricing, usually a management fee plus per-hire or per-seat charges.

Neither TEKsystems nor Experis publishes rates, so treat these as the industry-standard ranges that US buyers report:

Now the third column. Hyring charges a flat 7% of CTC for direct hires in India and a flat 14% for the US and rest of world. That same $140,000 engineer costs $19,600. For RPO services and staff augmentation we do not publish a single number because scope varies, but engagements consistently land around 30% below what the large firms quote for equivalent scope.

Sounds almost too cheap, right? The gap is structural, not a discount. AI screening does the work that armies of recruiters do at the big firms. Our AI Video Interviewer and AI Coding Interviewer have run 900,000+ interviews for Fortune 500 companies, and that same engine screens every agency candidate before a human ever books a call.

Competitor figures are typical reported ranges; Hyring fee is published

On an India-based hire at ₹40 lakh CTC, the Hyring fee drops to 7% flat. The same role sourced two ways can differ by more than half.

Where Does Speed Come From?

Speed in IT staffing comes from network size and screening throughput, and an AI-native model removes the human screening bottleneck entirely.

TEKsystems wins on bench: someone similar was probably placed by that branch last quarter. Experis wins on breadth: a hard-to-find skill can be sourced from another country. The bottleneck for both is human screening. A recruiter can properly screen maybe six to eight candidates a day.

We attacked that bottleneck from two sides. First, AI interviews screen every applicant the same day they apply: video interviews for communication and depth, an AI coding interview for hands-on skill, an AI phone screener for high-volume roles, and an English proficiency test where client-facing communication matters. No scheduling ping-pong.

Second, distribution. Instead of one branch's recruiters, the Hyring Recruiting Partners network puts thousands of independent recruiters on our open roles through a marketplace, paid on results. We think it is the first network of its kind operating at this scale in agency recruiting: a branch has dozens of recruiters, a marketplace has thousands, and every submission still passes the same AI screen before you see it. The combination is why a shortlist that takes a branch two weeks usually takes us two or three days.

Fact

Every Hyring shortlist candidate arrives with an AI interview recording, a skills score, and screening notes already attached. Your hiring managers watch a 10-minute highlight instead of running a first-round call. Résumés are pre-ranked by the AI Resume Screener before a recruiter ever touches them.

Service-by-Service Coverage

All three cover IT staff augmentation and direct hire; they diverge on nearshore models, RPO depth, and global staffing structure.

One structural note that surprises most buyers: with the big firms, RPO and staffing sit in different legal entities with different account teams. Allegis routes RPO through sister brands, ManpowerGroup routes it through Talent Solutions. With an integrated model, the same portal, the same AI screening, and the same team handle your contract staff, your global staffing, and your permanent hires. Fewer handoffs, one throat to choke.

What About Transparency Once People Start Working?

Traditional staffing gives you timesheets after the fact, while portal-based models show pipeline and work activity as it happens.

This is the part most comparisons skip, and honestly it decides more renewals than price does. With a traditional firm, your window into the engagement is an account manager and a monthly invoice. Did the offshore team actually work 160 hours? You are trusting a PDF.

Every Hyring engagement runs through client portals: open roles, candidate pipelines, AI interview recordings, offer status. For staff augmentation we go a step further. Insight by Hyring, our AI time tracking product, gives clients activity-level context on remote engineers: hours, focus patterns, and plain-language answers from a BI bot ("who has bandwidth next sprint?"). Employees see their own data first, which keeps the whole thing humane rather than surveillance-flavored. For a US company staffing a remote India team, that visibility is what makes the 60% cost saving feel safe instead of risky.

Which One Should You Pick?

Choose TEKsystems for US contract volume, Experis for global managed programs, and a flat-fee AI-native agency when unit economics drive the decision.

I would frame it as three honest scenarios. If you are a US enterprise filling 50 contract seats with on-site requirements, TEKsystems has earned its position and will deliver. If you are consolidating IT staffing across eight countries into one master agreement, Experis is built for exactly that.

If you are a mid-market company or a scaling team where every hire's cost hits your runway, run one requisition through a flat-fee model and compare the invoice. A 14% flat fee against a 25% fee, or an India-based engineer against a US contractor markup, tends to end the debate quickly. Before you talk to anyone, sanity-check compensation with our free salary benchmarks and pull real interview questions for the role. Both are free, both come from the same data that powers our screening.
