Citi eliminates 7,000 roles and automates 100-plus processes
Citi has cut about 7,000 roles since Q4 2025, including 5,000 in Q2 2026, and has identified more than 100 processes for automation as part of a structural efficiency drive, spending roughly $800 million on severance so far in 2026. The bank also plans about $5 billion in incremental investment across banking, wealth and prime finance through 2026 to 2028.
