Compass Group Interview Questions & Answers
Q: How would you treat an angry guest with a service-related complaint?
A: They want to see you stay calm and fix the problem instead of matching the guest's tone. Show that you listen first, then act.
Answer by AI
Let the guest explain fully and acknowledge the frustration without arguing.
Offer a clear, quick fix such as replacing the item or correcting the order.
Bring in a supervisor if the issue is beyond what you can resolve yourself.
Q: How do you make new customers feel comfortable at a restaurant?
A: This checks your service instincts. Focus on a warm greeting, reading the guest, and small touches that make people feel looked after.
Answer by AI
Greet guests promptly with eye contact and a friendly welcome.
Read their pace and offer help without hovering.
Explain the menu or specials clearly so they feel guided, not rushed.
Q: How would you react to a customer suffering from an allergic reaction to food?
A: Safety comes first. Show that you'd get help fast, follow the site's emergency steps, and never downplay a reaction.
Answer by AI
Call for medical help or emergency services immediately if symptoms are serious.
Follow the site's allergy and first-aid procedure and alert a manager.
Keep the allergen and any packaging so staff can identify the cause.
Q: What would you do if you caught a co-worker violating food safety standards?
A: Show you take food safety seriously and follow the chain of command. A calm correction plus escalation when needed is the expected answer.
Answer by AI
Correct the immediate issue politely if it's a quick fix.
Explain the risk to the co-worker so they understand why it matters.
Escalate to a supervisor if it's serious or keeps happening.
