Honeywell is a US technology and manufacturing company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and listed on Nasdaq as HON. It traces its roots to 1906 in Wabash, Indiana. Since June 29, 2026 it operates and brands itself as Honeywell Technologies, a pure-play automation company serving building, industrial and process customers, with more than 50,000 employees. Its market value sits around USD 73.8 billion, and it reported USD 37.4 billion of revenue in FY2025 before its two spin-offs closed.

The company finished a three-way separation announced in February 2025. Advanced Materials was spun off as Solstice Advanced Materials on October 30, 2025, and Aerospace Technologies was spun off as Honeywell Aerospace on June 29, 2026, alongside a 1-for-2 reverse stock split. What remains sits in three reporting areas: Industrial Automation, Building Automation, and Energy and Sustainability Solutions, which includes the UOP process technology business. Honeywell has kept buying, closing the GBP 1.325 billion purchase of Johnson Matthey's Catalyst Technologies business in July 2026, and selling, with the Warehouse and Workflow Solutions and the Productivity Solutions and Services units both due to change hands in the second half of 2026.

India is one of Honeywell's biggest operating bases outside the US. Honeywell Automation India Limited, incorporated in January 1984 and headquartered in Pune, is listed on BSE and NSE and reported INR 4,681.9 crore of revenue in FY2026 with 3,204 employees as of February 2026. Separately, Honeywell Technology Solutions runs large engineering and global capability centre operations, and in January 2026 it leased about 399,220 square feet at RMZ Ecoworld in Bellandur, Bengaluru, with an option on roughly 136,000 square feet more. Hiring across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Gurugram covers software, data science, embedded systems, IT, project engineering, sales and finance.

Honeywell Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Write a code for factorials of extra-large numbers.

A: Standard integer types overflow fast, so store the result as an array of digits and do schoolbook multiplication by each number from 2 up to n, carrying as you go. Print the digit array in reverse at the end.

Answer by AI
  • Represent the running result as an array or vector of digits, least significant digit first, starting at [1].
  • For each multiplier from 2 to n, multiply every digit, add the carry, store value mod 10 and carry value / 10, then append any leftover carry.
  • Mention the cost: roughly O(n squared) digit operations, and note that languages with big integers, like Python or Java BigInteger, do this for you.

Q: Write code for finding the kth largest number in an unsorted array.

A: Keep a min-heap of size k and push every element, popping when the heap grows past k. The heap root is the answer in O(n log k) time.

Answer by AI
  • Start with the naive sort approach at O(n log n) so the interviewer sees your baseline, then improve it.
  • Offer the size-k min-heap solution for O(n log k) time and O(k) space, which is the expected answer here.
  • Mention Quickselect for average O(n) time and call out its worst case of O(n squared) with a bad pivot.

Q: Explain polymorphism and the difference between method overloading and method overriding.

A: Polymorphism lets one interface work with many types. Overloading is same method name with different parameter lists, resolved at compile time. Overriding is a subclass replacing a parent method with the same signature, resolved at run time.

Answer by AI
  • Define polymorphism as one name behaving differently depending on the object or arguments involved.
  • Contrast compile-time (overloading, different parameters, same class) with run-time (overriding, same signature, parent and child class).
  • Close with a small code example and mention that overriding needs inheritance while overloading doesn't.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you faced in your life and how did you overcome it?

A: Pick one real situation and walk through it with the STAR structure so the story stays concrete instead of turning into a list of adjectives.

Answer by AI
  • Situation and Task: set the scene in two sentences, including what was actually at stake and your specific responsibility.
  • Action: spend most of your answer here, on the decisions you personally made and what you tried first that didn't work.
  • Result and learning: give an outcome you can defend and name one habit you changed afterwards.
