InMobi is a mobile advertising and marketing technology company founded in 2007 by Naveen Tewari, Mohit Saxena, Amit Gupta and Abhay Singhal. It started as mKhoj, an SMS based search business, and grew into a programmatic advertising platform covering mobile in-app, web and connected TV inventory. In 2011 it became India's first unicorn after a US$200 million investment from SoftBank.

The group runs two arms. InMobi Advertising sells brand building, app growth marketing and publisher monetisation products, and says its exchange reaches about 2 billion mobile users. Glance, the consumer arm launched in 2019, operates a lock screen discovery platform and the short video app Roposo, and in May 2025 added Glance AI, an AI shopping platform. Glance is backed by Google, Jio Platforms and Mithril Capital and is held as an unconsolidated subsidiary of InMobi.

InMobi reported revenue of US$281 million and profit of US$41 million in FY23. It's preparing an India listing of roughly US$1 billion, has appointed JPMorgan, Jefferies, Kotak Mahindra Capital and Axis Capital, and is moving its corporate domicile from Singapore to India. In December 2025 it raised a US$350 million debt facility from Varde Partners, Elham Credit Partners and SeaTown, much of it used to buy back shares from SoftBank and other investors. Its registered Indian office is in Bengaluru and it hires heavily there and in Lucknow.

InMobi Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Rotate a string, but rotate space-separated words instead of characters (a variant of Rotate String).

A: Split the sentence into words, rotate the list by k positions, then join it back with single spaces. Handle k larger than the word count by taking k modulo the length.

Answer by AI
  • Tokenise on whitespace so you rotate word tokens rather than characters.
  • Normalise k with k modulo word count, and return the input unchanged when the list is empty.
  • Either slice and concatenate, or use the reverse-reverse-reverse trick for in-place rotation in O(n) time and O(1) extra space.

Q: Convert a Roman numeral to an integer.

A: Scan left to right with a symbol-to-value map. Add the current value, but subtract twice the previous value when the previous symbol was smaller, which handles cases like IV and IX.

Answer by AI
  • Store the six symbol values in a hash map for O(1) lookups.
  • Compare each symbol with the next one: if it's smaller, it's a subtractive pair, so subtract instead of add.
  • The scan is single pass, O(n) time and O(1) space. Mention validation of malformed input if the interviewer asks.

Q: Delete the Nth node from the end of a given linked list.

A: Use two pointers. Advance the fast pointer n steps, then move both until fast reaches the end, and the slow pointer will sit just before the node to remove.

Answer by AI
  • A dummy head node removes the special case where the node to delete is the head.
  • Two pointer gap of n gives one pass, O(n) time and O(1) space, so no length precomputation is needed.
  • Guard against n being larger than the list length before dereferencing.

Q: Connect n ropes with minimum cost.

A: Push all rope lengths into a min heap, repeatedly pop the two smallest, add their sum to the running cost and push the sum back. That greedy order minimises total cost.

Answer by AI
  • This is Huffman coding in disguise: always merge the two cheapest items first.
  • A min heap gives O(n log n) time and O(n) space.
  • Be ready to argue why the greedy choice is optimal using an exchange argument.
