Diageo plc is a British multinational alcoholic beverages company headquartered in London. Formed on December 17, 1997, it makes and distributes spirits and beer, producing roughly 40% of the world's Scotch whisky. Its portfolio includes Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Smirnoff, Baileys, Captain Morgan and Tanqueray, sold across nearly 180 countries.
The company is dual-listed, trading on the London Stock Exchange as DGE and on the New York Stock Exchange as an ADR under DEO, and it's a constituent of the FTSE 100. For fiscal year 2025 Diageo reported revenue of about US$20.245 billion and employed 29,632 people, operating from 132 sites worldwide. As of early 2026 its market value was around GBP 34.86 billion.
Leadership changed in January 2026 when Sir Dave Lewis, the former Tesco Group CEO, became Chief Executive Officer, succeeding an interim period led by CFO Nik Jhangiani. Sir John Manzoni serves as Chair. In India, Diageo controls the separately listed United Spirits Limited, based in Bengaluru, through an approximately 55.94% stake.
