Ford Motor Company is an American automaker founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903 and headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker F and sits in the S&P 500. Ford reported record revenue of USD 187.3 billion for 2025 alongside a net loss of USD 8.2 billion, and it employs about 169,000 people worldwide.
In India, Ford runs Ford Business Solutions, the technology and business services arm of Ford Motor Private Limited, based in Chennai. FBS has grown past 12,000 employees and covers software engineering, analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, product engineering, finance and accounting, and Ford Credit technology. India is Ford's second largest employment base globally after Dearborn, with sites in Chennai, Bengaluru and, since July 2026, Coimbatore.
Ford stopped building vehicles in India in September 2021 and sold its Gujarat plant to Tata Motors in 2022, but it's now returning to manufacturing. In October 2025 Ford signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs 3,250 crore in reviving the Maraimalai Nagar plant near Chennai to build next generation engines for export from 2029, with annual capacity of 235,000 units and roughly 600 new jobs.

Ford Business Solutions India opened a new centre at SVB Tech Park in Coimbatore covering accounting, Ford Credit and business operations work. It's FBS India's third site after the Chennai Global Technology and Business Centre and the Bengaluru Technology Incubation Centre.

Ford's 2026 recall tally passes 11 million vehicles
Ford had issued 51 recalls covering about 11.27 million vehicles by late June 2026, close to the roughly 13 million it recalled across 153 campaigns in 2025. The largest single action covered about 4.4 million trucks and SUVs over a trailer brake software fault fixed by an over the air update.
