GitLab Inc. is a US software company that sells a DevSecOps platform covering planning, source control, security scanning, compliance checks and deployment in one application. The product started in 2011 as a Ruby on Rails side project and grew into a commercial company that listed on Nasdaq under the ticker GTLB on October 14, 2021. GitLab says more than 50 million registered users and about half of the Fortune 100 rely on the platform.
The company is all remote. It doesn't run traditional offices, and it hires team members across more than 65 countries, with a registered address in San Francisco. Bill Staples became CEO in December 2024 after co-founder Sid Sijbrandij stepped back to the role of Executive Chair. Jessica Ross joined as Chief Financial Officer effective January 15, 2026, and Thomas Lloyd was named Chief Business and Legal Officer in July 2026.
Fiscal 2026, which ended January 31, 2026, brought revenue of $955.2 million, up 26%, with annual recurring revenue crossing $1 billion and adjusted free cash flow of $219.6 million. The board authorised a $400 million share repurchase programme in March 2026. In June 2026 GitLab cut about 14% of staff, roughly 350 people, and said it would exit 22 countries while reorganising research and development around agentic AI, taking a restructuring charge of $30 million to $35 million.
