Info Edge (India) Limited is an Indian internet company incorporated in May 1995 and headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with its registered office in Nehru Place, New Delhi. It runs India's largest online classifieds portfolio: Naukri.com for recruitment, 99acres.com for real estate, Jeevansathi.com for matrimony and Shiksha.com for education. The company is listed on both Indian exchanges as NSE: NAUKRI and BSE: 532777.

Recruitment is the core of the business. Naukri.com claims over 75% traffic share in Indian online recruitment, and it contributed ₹608 crore of the ₹869 crore consolidated revenue Info Edge reported in the March 2026 quarter. Consolidated revenue for FY26 was ₹3,285 crore against ₹2,849 crore in FY25, and the board recommended a final dividend of ₹3.60 per share for the year. 99acres brought in ₹144 crore in Q4 FY26, while Jeevansathi and Shiksha together added ₹80 crore.

Info Edge also works as an active investor in Indian internet and technology startups. It was an early backer of Zomato, now Eternal, and PolicyBazaar, and it manages Info Edge Ventures with Temasek along with Capital 2B and Redstart Labs. In February 2026 it committed ₹250 crore to B8 Fund-I, its first dedicated growth-stage vehicle, registered with SEBI as a Category II alternative investment fund. The company says it employs roughly 5,750 people across 62 offices in 43 Indian cities plus overseas offices in the Gulf.

Info Edge Interview Questions & Answers

Q: What is a Linked List? Differentiate between arrays and linked lists.

A: A linked list is a chain of nodes where each node holds data plus a pointer to the next node, so memory isn't contiguous. Arrays give you constant time indexing but fixed size and costly insertions, while linked lists give cheap insertions and deletions but no random access.

Answer by AI
  • Define the structure first: nodes with data and pointers, allocated wherever memory is free, versus a contiguous block for arrays.
  • Compare on the three axes interviewers care about: access time (array O(1), list O(n)), insert or delete in the middle (array O(n), list O(1) once you hold the node), and memory overhead (list pays for pointers).
  • Close with a use case so it doesn't sound memorised, for example an LRU cache pairing a hash map with a doubly linked list.

Q: Explain the ACID properties.

A: ACID stands for atomicity, consistency, isolation and durability, the four guarantees a database transaction gives you. Together they mean a transaction either fully happens or doesn't, never leaves the data in an invalid state, isn't disturbed by concurrent transactions, and survives a crash once committed.

Answer by AI
  • Name all four and give a one line meaning for each rather than a paragraph on atomicity and nothing else.
  • Anchor it in a bank transfer example: the debit and credit both land or neither does, balances stay valid, a parallel transfer can't read the half-done state, and the committed result survives a power cut.
  • If you have time, mention that isolation comes in levels (read committed, repeatable read, serializable) and that the level chosen trades correctness against throughput.

Q: What is a deadlock? What are the conditions which cause deadlock? How to prevent deadlock?

A: A deadlock is when two or more processes each hold a resource the other needs, so none of them can move forward. It needs four conditions at once: mutual exclusion, hold and wait, no preemption and circular wait, and breaking any single one prevents it.

Answer by AI
  • Start with a two process, two lock example so the examiner sees you understand it, then generalise.
  • List the four Coffman conditions by name and say clearly that all four must hold together.
  • Give one prevention technique per condition: request all resources up front, allow preemption, impose a global lock ordering to kill circular wait. Mention detection and recovery, and Banker's algorithm for avoidance, as the alternatives to prevention.

Q: Why are strings immutable in Java?

A: Strings are immutable so they can be safely cached in the string pool, shared across threads without locking, and used as reliable hash map keys. Immutability also protects security sensitive values like file paths and connection strings from being changed after a check.

Answer by AI
  • Lead with the string pool: interning only works if nobody can mutate a shared literal.
  • Cover the three practical payoffs, thread safety without synchronisation, a hash code that can be cached because it never changes, and security for values passed to APIs.
  • Show the trade-off you know about: every concatenation makes a new object, which is why StringBuilder exists for loops.
