KPIT Technologies Limited is a Pune-headquartered automotive software and embedded engineering company that works almost entirely with vehicle makers and their tier-1 suppliers. It builds software for advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous driving, electric powertrains, connected vehicles, digital cockpits, middleware and diagnostics, and its software runs in more than 20 million vehicles across over 2,000 production programs. The company was founded in 1990 by Ravi Pandit and Kishor Patil, listed on Indian exchanges in 1999, and took its current listed form in 2019 after its engineering business demerged from the IT services business that became Birlasoft.

The company is listed on the NSE as KPITTECH and on the BSE as 542651, with a market capitalization of about ₹15,111 crore as of July 2026. For FY26 it reported revenue of ₹6,455 crore, or USD 724.8 million, with an EBITDA margin of 20.8 percent and constant-currency growth of 1.3 percent for the year, while the fourth quarter grew 12 percent year on year and brought in USD 349 million of new engagements. The board has proposed a final dividend of ₹5.25 per share for FY26.

KPIT employs more than 13,000 engineers and runs 31 offices across 16 countries, with development centers in India, Germany, the United States, Sweden, Japan, China, Thailand, Brazil and Tunisia. Recent expansion has come through acquisitions and stakes, including the Caresoft global engineering solutions business in 2025, a majority stake in Swiss in-car gaming firm N-Dream (AirConsole) in October 2025, and an agreed majority stake in Israeli automotive cybersecurity firm Cymotive announced in May 2026. Co-founder and chairman Ravi Pandit died on May 8, 2026.

KPIT Technologies Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Write a program for finding the sum of digits in the given number.

A: Loop through the number, extract the last digit using modulo 10, add it to a running total, then divide the number by 10 until it reaches zero.

Answer by AI
  • Explain the approach first: extract digits one at a time using % and /.
  • Write clean, readable code with a clear loop and running sum variable.
  • Mention the time complexity, which is proportional to the number of digits.

Q: Implement linear search.

A: Iterate through the array from the first element to the last, comparing each element to the target, and return the index when a match is found.

Answer by AI
  • State the brute-force nature of linear search upfront: O(n) time, no sorting needed.
  • Handle the edge case where the element isn't present by returning -1 or null.
  • Offer binary search as a follow-up if the interviewer asks about a sorted array.

Q: Find a substring in a string.

A: Slide a window the length of the substring across the string, comparing characters at each position, or use a built-in string search method if allowed.

Answer by AI
  • Clarify whether a library function is allowed or if a manual implementation is expected.
  • Walk through the sliding window comparison logic with a small example.
  • Note the naive approach is O(n*m); mention KMP only if asked for optimization.

Q: What are your weaknesses and how would you overcome them?

A: Pick a real, minor weakness, then describe a concrete step you've taken to improve it.

Answer by AI
  • Choose a genuine weakness that isn't critical to the role you're applying for.
  • Pair it with a specific action already taken, not just an intention.
  • Keep the tone honest and brief, without turning it into a backhanded strength.
