Admiral Group plc is a Cardiff-headquartered international financial-services company, best known as one of the UK's largest car-insurance providers. It launched on 2 January 1993, founded by Henry Engelhardt and David Stevens, and is listed on the London Stock Exchange (ADM) as a FTSE 100 constituent.
The Group markets the Admiral, Bell, Elephant, Diamond and Veygo insurance brands and operates the price-comparison services Confused.com and Compare.com. Beyond motor insurance it offers home, travel and pet insurance as well as personal lending through Admiral Money, reporting across UK Insurance, European Insurance and Admiral Money segments.
For the 2025 financial year the Group reported turnover of about £5.57 billion and record profit before tax, employing around 15,000 people. Alongside its Welsh operations in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea, it runs international insurance arms in Spain, Italy and France, and a captive technology & operations centre, 'Admiral India,' in Gurugram (established 2021). Admiral is well known for its staff culture, including a free-share scheme and repeated 'Great Place to Work' recognition.
