ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited is India's largest private-sector general insurer. It was set up in 2001 as a joint venture between ICICI Bank and Canada's Fairfax Financial Holdings, and Fairfax exited its holding fully in 2019. The company is listed on both Indian exchanges (NSE: ICICIGI, BSE: 540716) and runs from ICICI Lombard House in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
The product range covers motor, health, crop, fire, marine, engineering, travel, home, personal accident and liability insurance, sold through agents, bancassurance partners, brokers, corporate tie-ups and direct digital channels. Wikipedia records 312 branches and 840 virtual offices across India. In 2020 the company absorbed Bharti AXA General Insurance through a share-swap deal, which added scale in retail and rural distribution.
For FY2026 the company reported revenue of about INR 26,994 crore and gross direct premium income of INR 28,712 crore, up from INR 26,833 crore in FY2025. Headcount stood at 15,008 as of March 31, 2026. Recent quarters have been mixed: Q4 FY26 profit rose 7.3 percent, while Q1 FY27 profit fell 46 percent after a Supreme Court ruling on motor third-party compensation forced extra claim reserves.
