IndiaMART InterMESH Limited runs India's largest online B2B marketplace, matching buyers with suppliers across a wide range of product categories. The business started in 1996 and the company was incorporated on September 13, 1999, with its corporate office in Sector 135, Noida and its registered office in Daryaganj, New Delhi. Co-founders Dinesh Chandra Agarwal and Brijesh Kumar Agarwal still run the company as Managing Director and CEO and Whole-Time Director respectively.

The platform connects roughly 23 crore buyers with about 87 lakh suppliers and 12.9 crore products and services. Revenue comes mainly from paid subscriptions sold to suppliers who want better visibility, priority listings and lead management tools, so deferred revenue is a closely watched metric. As of March 31, 2026 the company had about 220,000 paying suppliers, 8.7 million supplier storefronts and deferred revenue of ₹1,965 crore.

IndiaMART listed in July 2019 and was the first Indian B2B e-commerce company to go public. For FY26 it reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹1,569 crore, up 13% year on year, with net profit of ₹474.7 crore and cash and investments of ₹3,280 crore. It also owns accounting software firm Busy Infotech, acquired in 2022, and in July 2026 its board approved a new subsidiary, IndiaMART Finance Limited, for short-term transaction financing with partner lenders.

IndiaMART Interview Questions & Answers

Q: What is recursion? Write a program for factorial using recursion.

A: Recursion is when a function calls itself on a smaller input until it hits a base case. For factorial, the base case is n equal to 0 or 1 returning 1, and the recursive step returns n multiplied by factorial of n minus 1.

Answer by AI
  • Define the base case first so the calls terminate, then write the recursive step.
  • Walk through factorial(4) on paper to show the call stack unwinding back up.
  • Mention that recursion costs stack space and an iterative loop is O(1) space here.

Q: What is the advantage of RDBMS over a traditional database?

A: An RDBMS stores data in related tables with enforced keys and constraints, so it removes duplication and keeps data consistent. It also gives you SQL querying, transactions with ACID guarantees and proper access control, which flat file systems don't offer.

Answer by AI
  • Lead with relationships: foreign keys and joins remove the duplication flat files carry.
  • Name the ACID properties and why transactions matter for money or order data.
  • Add multi-user concurrency, indexing and permission control as the practical wins.

Q: What is normalization? Explain all normal forms with the help of an example.

A: Normalization organises tables to cut redundancy and update anomalies. 1NF needs atomic values, 2NF removes partial dependency on part of a composite key, 3NF removes transitive dependency on non key columns, and BCNF tightens 3NF so every determinant is a candidate key.

Answer by AI
  • Carry one example table, say student and course, through each form so the story is continuous.
  • Name the anomaly each form fixes: insert, update and delete.
  • Close by saying you sometimes denormalize for read heavy workloads, and why.

Q: What is the difference between TCP and UDP?

A: TCP is connection oriented and reliable: it handshakes, orders packets, acknowledges them and retransmits losses. UDP is connectionless with no ordering or delivery guarantee, so it's lighter and faster and suits streaming, gaming and DNS.

Answer by AI
  • Contrast on four axes: connection setup, reliability, ordering and header overhead.
  • Give one real use case each, such as HTTP on TCP and video calls on UDP.
  • Mention flow control and congestion control exist in TCP only.
