Kaiser Permanente Careers

Kaiser Permanente is a not-for-profit integrated managed care organization founded on July 21, 1945 and headquartered at 1 Kaiser Plaza in Oakland, California. It isn't a single company: it's a consortium of three interdependent entities, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and its regional subsidiaries, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and the regional Permanente Medical Groups. That structure lets the same organization act as both the insurer and the care provider for its members.

The organization reported 243,652 employees, 25,505 physicians and 78,630 nurses across 40 hospitals and 609 medical offices, serving roughly 13 million members. Regions cover Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, the Mid-Atlantic, the Northwest, Washington state and, since 2026, Nevada. Combined operating revenue with subsidiary Risant Health reached $127.7 billion in 2025, with $1.4 billion of operating income and $9.3 billion of net income.

Growth now runs through two tracks. Risant Health, the Kaiser-created non-profit that acquired Geisinger and Cone Health, is buying value-based systems outside the core Kaiser regions. Separately, a joint venture with Renown Health closed on February 3, 2026 and put Kaiser Permanente into northern Nevada, where its first two medical offices opened on July 1, 2026.
