A: A positive number is a power of two when it has exactly one bit set, so the test n && !(n & (n - 1)) returns true only for powers of two. Clearing the lowest set bit of a power of two gives zero.

A: The volatile qualifier tells the compiler a variable can change outside normal program flow, such as from hardware registers or another thread, so it must not cache the value in a register or optimize accesses away. Each read and write goes to actual memory.
Q: How to implement sizeof operator.
A: You can mimic sizeof with a macro that uses pointer arithmetic: ((char *)(&x + 1) - (char *)(&x)) gives the byte size of x without evaluating it. It relies on pointer differences rather than the built-in operator.
