Charter Communications, Inc. is a US cable and broadband company that operates its consumer and business services under the Spectrum brand. Founded in 1993, the company is the largest cable operator in the United States by subscribers, serving roughly 32 million customers across 41 states with residential, enterprise, and small business offerings. It is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, having relocated from St. Louis, Missouri, and its main campus at 400 Washington Boulevard is the largest building in Stamford.
The company trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker CHTR and is a component of the S&P 500. For fiscal year 2025 Charter reported revenue of about US$54.77 billion and employed roughly 91,900 people. Its market capitalization stood near US$17.70 billion at the time of research. Major shareholders have included Liberty Media, Advance Publications, and Berkshire Hathaway.
Charter is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Winfrey, who has held the role since December 2022, with Jessica Fischer serving as Chief Financial Officer and Eric L. Zinterhofer as Non-Executive Chairman of the board. In February 2026 the company named former Frontier Communications CEO Nick Jeffery as Chief Operating Officer, a role he is set to assume on September 1, 2026.
