Greggs plc is a UK bakery and food-to-go retailer founded in 1939 in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne. It's listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker GRG and sits in the FTSE 250. The head office, Greggs House, is in Newcastle upon Tyne, and the business employs around 33,000 people.
The company runs a vertically integrated model: it makes much of its own food in its own bakeries and moves it through its own distribution network. At 9 May 2026 there were 2,759 shops trading, made up of 2,141 company-managed shops and 618 franchised units run with partners such as travel and forecourt retailers. Manufacturing and logistics sites include Balliol Park in Newcastle, a new frozen facility at Spondon in Derby, a national distribution centre being fitted out at Kettering, and depots at Birmingham, Amesbury, Leeds, Treforest and Enfield.
For the 52 weeks ended 27 December 2025 Greggs reported total sales of GBP 2,151m, up 6.8% on 2024, with statutory profit before tax of GBP 167.4m and a total ordinary dividend of 69.0p per share. It opened 121 net new shops in 2025 and is targeting around 120 net openings in 2026, with a longer-term ambition of significantly more than 3,000 UK shops and supply chain capacity built for up to 3,500.

Trading update: sales up 7.5% and first airport shop outside the UK
Greggs reported total sales up 7.5% to GBP 800m in the first 19 weeks of 2026, with like-for-like sales up 2.5% year to date and 2,759 shops trading. It also said it will open its first shop in an airport outside the UK, at Tenerife South Airport with Lagardere Travel Retail.

Greggs posted total sales of GBP 2,151m, up 6.8%, with underlying operating profit down 4.0% at GBP 187.5m and statutory profit before tax of GBP 167.4m. It kept the total ordinary dividend at 69.0p and confirmed 121 net shop openings in 2025.
