CRED is an Indian fintech company operated by Dreamplug Technologies Private Limited, founded in 2018 by Kunal Shah and headquartered in Bengaluru. It started as a members-only app that let users with high credit scores pay their credit card bills and earn rewards. Its registered office sits in Mumbai, and the company holds DPIIT startup recognition.
The platform has grown well beyond bill payments into a wider set of financial products, including lending (CRED Cash), UPI payments, savings and wealth features (CRED Money and CRED Mint), car management (CRED Garage), and insurance distribution. It has expanded partly through acquisitions such as Happay, CreditVidya, Spenny, and Kuvera. Operating revenue reached about Rs 2,735 crore in FY25, though the company stayed loss-making.
In June 2026, founder Kunal Shah stepped away from day-to-day operations to join Meta as head of WhatsApp, while keeping his shareholding. Miten Sampat, who had run strategy and finance since 2020, became interim CEO. Alongside the change, Meta led a US$900 million round that valued CRED at about US$4.5 billion, and the company said it's building a longer-term leadership structure ahead of a possible IPO.
