FedEx Corporation is a US multinational transportation, e-commerce and business services company listed on the NYSE under the ticker FDX. Frederick W. Smith founded it as Federal Express Corporation on May 5, 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and moved operations to Memphis, Tennessee in 1973, where the company is still headquartered. It reported revenue of US$94.72 billion in fiscal 2026, up 7.73% from US$87.93 billion the year before, and its market capitalisation stood at about US$75.95 billion in July 2026. FedEx says it has more than 575,000 team members worldwide.

The group runs through operating units including FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Logistics, FedEx Office and FedEx Dataworks, with its main air hub at Memphis International Airport. Two structural changes reshaped the company in 2026. FedEx completed the spin-off of FedEx Freight on June 1, 2026, creating a separate NYSE-listed company under the ticker FDXF, and on July 1, 2026 it agreed to sell FedEx Supply Chain to France's CMA CGM Group at an enterprise value of US$1.4 billion. Raj Subramaniam has been president and CEO since 2022, R. Brad Martin is executive chairman, and Claude Russ is interim CFO.

In India, the business runs under Federal Express Corporation AMEA and the locally registered FedEx Express Transportation and Supply Chain Services (India) Private Limited, incorporated on December 29, 2010 with the Registrar of Companies in Mumbai. Mumbai is the sub-regional headquarters for the Indian subcontinent and Hyderabad hosts the company's first Advanced Capability Community, a technology and digital hub opened in December 2023 with a US$100 million investment. FedEx also has offices in Bengaluru, New Delhi and Gurugram, and in February 2026 it broke ground on a 300,000 square foot fully automated air cargo hub at Navi Mumbai International Airport backed by a long-term investment of Rs 2,500 crore.

Fedex Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Write a SQL program to calculate the Nth highest salary.

A: Use a window function such as DENSE_RANK over salary in descending order and filter for the rank you want, or use a correlated subquery counting distinct higher salaries. Say which one you'd pick and why.

Answer by AI
  • DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY salary DESC) in a CTE, then filter WHERE rnk = N, handles ties cleanly.
  • The older pattern is LIMIT 1 OFFSET N-1 on a DISTINCT salary list, but it breaks on duplicate salaries.
  • Mention what should happen when fewer than N distinct salaries exist, since the query returns no rows.

Q: What is the difference between a Measure and a Calculated Column in Power BI?

A: A calculated column is evaluated row by row and stored in the model, while a measure is evaluated at query time in the current filter context and stores nothing.

Answer by AI
  • Calculated columns take up memory in the model; measures are computed on demand and stay light.
  • Use a column when you need a value to slice or group by, and a measure for aggregations that respond to filters.
  • Give a concrete example, such as a profit margin measure that changes as the user slices by region.

Q: What are candidate keys in SQL, and how do you create an alias?

A: A candidate key is any minimal set of columns that uniquely identifies a row, and one candidate key gets picked as the primary key. Aliases are created with the AS keyword on columns or tables.

Answer by AI
  • Define minimality: remove any column from a candidate key and it stops being unique.
  • A table can have several candidate keys; the ones not chosen as primary are alternate keys.
  • Show both forms: SELECT salary AS monthly_pay and FROM employees AS e for shorter join conditions.

Q: What is the difference between supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning?

A: Supervised learning trains on labelled examples, unsupervised learning finds structure in unlabelled data, and reinforcement learning learns a policy from rewards earned by acting in an environment.

Answer by AI
  • Supervised: classification and regression, where the correct output is known during training.
  • Unsupervised: clustering, dimensionality reduction and anomaly detection, with no target label.
  • Reinforcement: an agent, states, actions and a reward signal, with delayed feedback and exploration trade-offs.
