GIC Private Limited is Singapore's sovereign wealth fund. It was incorporated in 1981 and is wholly owned by the Government of Singapore, with the mandate to preserve and enhance the international purchasing power of the reserves placed in its care. GIC invests across public equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate and infrastructure, and works to a long investment horizon rather than short-term targets.

The firm employs about 2,300 people and runs offices in 11 financial centres, including Singapore, Mumbai, London, New York, San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Sao Paulo and Sydney. Its India presence is in Mumbai at Altimus on Pandurang Budhkar Marg, and the local registered entity is Singapore Investcorp (India) Private Limited, whose holding company is GIC (International) Private Limited. Investment work is organised into asset-class groups such as Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Public Equities and Fixed Income & Multi Asset, supported by Technology, Risk, Finance and Global Investment Services teams.

GIC doesn't publish its assets under management or an annual profit figure. It reports a rolling 20-year annualised real rate of return instead, which stood at 3.8% for the period ending 31 March 2025, with a 5.7% nominal US dollar return. Recent activity includes co-leading Anthropic's Series H round in May 2026 and completing the A$6.7 billion take-private of National Storage REIT with Brookfield.

GIC Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Explain how you would analyze market trends to inform investment strategies.

A: Walk through your actual method: the data you'd pull, how you'd separate signal from noise, and how the read turns into a position or a recommendation. Interviewers want a repeatable process, not a market call.

Answer by AI
  • Start with the question you're answering, then pick data that can actually answer it: macro series, sector fundamentals, flows and positioning.
  • Separate structural shifts from cyclical ones, and say which of your inputs are leading versus lagging.
  • Close with how the read becomes a decision, including what evidence would make you change your mind.

Q: Can you describe a time when you used data analysis to solve a business problem?

A: Use a situation, task, action, result structure with a real example from your own work. Quantify the outcome if you can, and be honest about what the analysis couldn't tell you.

Answer by AI
  • Set the scene in two sentences: what the business problem was and why it mattered.
  • Describe the data you had, the method you chose, and one judgement call you had to make.
  • End with the measurable result and what you'd do differently now.

Q: Discuss your experience with financial modeling and how it applies to investment analysis.

A: Name the model types you've built, describe how you structure assumptions so they're auditable, and connect the output to an investment decision rather than treating the model as the deliverable.

Answer by AI
  • Name specific model types you've built, such as three-statement, DCF, LBO or scenario models.
  • Explain how you keep assumptions visible and testable, and how you sanity-check outputs against comparables.
  • Tie it back to the decision: what the model told you to do, and where its limits were.

Q: How do you ensure data integrity in your analyses?

A: Describe controls at each stage: validation at ingest, reconciliation against a source of truth, versioning, and peer review before anything goes to a stakeholder.

Answer by AI
  • Validate at the point of entry: schema checks, range checks and duplicate detection.
  • Reconcile against an independent source and document any variance you can't explain.
  • Version your inputs and code, and get a second pair of eyes before publishing.
