Abrdn Interview Questions & Answers

Q: What excites you in tech?

A: Give a specific, genuine example of the technology or problem area that motivates you, then connect it to work you want to do in the role.

Answer by AI
  • Choose one or two technical areas you genuinely follow and explain the problem-solving aspect that interests you.
  • Support it with a concrete project, learning experience or outcome rather than broad enthusiasm alone.
  • Relate your interests to the role's responsibilities after researching the team and its technology stack.

Q: How do you handle your workload on a daily basis?

A: Explain how you prioritise work, make progress visible, communicate trade-offs early and adapt when priorities change.

Answer by AI
  • Start with how you identify urgent, high-impact and deadline-bound work.
  • Describe one system you use to plan, track and communicate progress.
  • Give a concise example of reprioritising while protecting a key delivery.

Q: Walk me through your resume.

A: Give a focused narrative linking your most relevant experience, decisions and results to the role you are seeking.

Answer by AI
  • Use a chronological structure, spending most time on the experience most relevant to this role.
  • For each move, explain the problem you worked on, your contribution and the outcome.
  • Finish by linking the pattern in your experience to why this opportunity is the logical next step.

Q: Why should we pick you over another candidate?

A: Focus on the role-relevant combination of skills, evidence and motivation you offer rather than making unsupported comparisons with other applicants.

Answer by AI
  • Name the two or three capabilities the role needs most and show evidence for each.
  • Use a concrete outcome to demonstrate the value you can create.
  • Close with why the organisation and role are a strong fit for your next step.
