Juspay Technologies Private Limited is a Bengaluru based payments infrastructure company incorporated on 29 August 2012 and registered in Karnataka. It builds payment orchestration, checkout, authentication, tokenization, payouts and reconciliation software for merchants, banks and card networks. The company says it processes more than 300 million transactions a day at 99.999% reliability across 500-plus enterprise and bank customers.

The company runs Hyperswitch, its open source payment orchestration platform released under an Apache 2.0 licence, which it expanded into the US, UK and Europe in 2025 from a hub in San Mateo and a Dublin office opened in December 2024. Alongside Hyperswitch it sells HyperCredit for EMI and lending journeys, which Flipkart uses for its EMI program, and it joined the Mastercard Engage partner network in June 2026 as a certified Click to Pay partner after an earlier rollout in Brazil.

Juspay stays privately held. It raised $60 million led by Kedaara Capital in April 2025, then $50 million from WestBridge Capital in January 2026 at a $1.2 billion valuation, a mix of primary money and secondary liquidity for early investors and ESOP holders. For FY25 it reported net revenue of Rs 514 crore, up 48%, and a net profit of Rs 62 crore against a Rs 97 crore loss the year before. Headcount is stated at 1,500-plus payment specialists across offices in India, the US, Ireland, the UAE, Singapore and Brazil.

Juspay Interview Questions & Answers

Q: Solve LeetCode "Open the Lock": explain the brute force, optimise it with BFS, give the complexity and write the pseudocode.

A: Treat each four digit combination as a node and each single wheel turn as an edge, then run BFS from 0000 to the target while skipping deadends. BFS gives the shortest turn count in O(10^4 * 8) time because the state space is bounded at ten thousand nodes.

Answer by AI
  • Frame it as an unweighted shortest path problem: states are the 10,000 lock codes, neighbours are the eight one-step turns.
  • Say the brute force first (try every sequence, exponential), then explain why BFS level order gives the minimum number of moves.
  • Close with complexity and edge cases: deadends set for O(1) lookups, target equal to 0000, and a target that's unreachable.

Q: Hackathon Part A: solve the "Tree of Space" problem.

A: Model the space as an M-ary tree where each node can be locked by one user, and maintain parent pointers plus a count of locked descendants so lock and unlock checks don't walk the whole subtree. Validate upward for locked ancestors and downward using the descendant counter.

Answer by AI
  • Build the tree with a name to node map so any operation starts in O(1) instead of searching from the root.
  • Keep an ancestor walk for locked parents and a locked-descendant counter so you avoid a full subtree scan on every call.
  • Explain the invariant you protect: a node can be locked only if no ancestor and no descendant is currently locked.

Q: Hackathon Part B: extend your Tree of Space implementation with multi-threading and granular locking on path traversal.

A: Give each node its own mutex and acquire locks along the root to node path in a fixed top down order so threads can't deadlock. Hold only the locks you need for the ancestor and descendant checks, then release them in reverse order.

Answer by AI
  • State the deadlock rule up front: always acquire node locks in the same global order, top down along the path.
  • Use per-node locks rather than one global lock so unrelated subtrees stay concurrent, and make the descendant counter atomic.
  • Mention what you'd test: concurrent lock and upgrade on sibling subtrees, and two threads racing on the same ancestor.

Q: Low-level design: a multi-storey parking lot with 5 floors, sections A to D, 10 car slots per section, motorcycle capacity, fare of Rs 20 per hour and an optimal spot suggestion.

A: Model ParkingLot, Floor, Section, Slot, Vehicle, Ticket and a FareStrategy, with slot types keyed by vehicle size. Keep a per-floor priority queue of free slots so the optimal spot lookup is O(log n) rather than a linear scan.

Answer by AI
  • Lay out the class diagram first and name the responsibilities before you write any method bodies.
  • Make the fare rule a strategy interface so hourly, daily and free-first-15-minutes pricing swap without touching the core.
  • Explain the spot picking heuristic and its data structure, then cover full-lot, lost-ticket and vehicle-type-mismatch cases.
