Leave Management Software

Requests, approvals, and balances handled by the free lightweight HRIS. What makes it different is the layer above: knowing whether leave was actually taken, and who has stopped taking any.

Direct answer

Leave management software handles time-off requests, approvals, balances, carry-forward, and policy by team or location.

Insight by Hyring includes leave management through the lightweight HRIS bundled free with Hyring. The distinctive part sits above it: because the product tracks the work alongside the balance, it can tell you whether leave was actually taken or worked through, and who has stopped taking any at all.

What Leave Management Software Does

Requests, approvals, balances, and policy. The commodity part of the category, and largely solved.

Every product in this space does roughly the same things: an employee requests time off, a manager approves it, a balance updates, and a calendar shows who is away. Policies vary by team or location, carry-forward rules apply at year end, and reports come out the other side. There is not much to distinguish vendors at that layer, which is why it comes free with Hyring rather than being sold as a product.

The Signal Balances Cannot Show

A leave system records what was requested. It cannot tell you whether the rest was real.

What a balance shows against what happened

Two records of the same nine months

Leave system

Balance: 18 days accrued. Requests this year: none.

What it means

Could be anything. The system cannot tell you which.

With work data

Late finishes rising. Deep work falling. Leave booked, worked.

Now actionable

A specific person, a specific pattern, months of warning.

A leave system records the balance and stops. Whether that balance means someone is indispensable, disengaged, or simply saving days for a long holiday is invisible to it, and the difference matters enormously.

Two things happen in every organisation that a leave balance is structurally blind to. People accrue for months without taking a day, and people book leave and then work through it anyway. Both are visible in workforce data and neither appears in a leave system, because a leave system only sees the request.

Insight by Hyring sees the work as well, so it can distinguish leave that was taken from leave that was booked. Someone with nine months of untouched balance and consistent late finishes is a specific and actionable signal, and it usually arrives months before a resignation does.

Where Leave Sits

Request and record are commodity. Context is the part worth paying attention to. Payroll stays elsewhere.

What You Get

Leave handled free, with the tracking and companion layer alongside.

The avatar nobody minds

A desktop companion that reads the day and talks to its own user first. It notices a 25-minute drift and offers a short sprint rather than logging a deviation.

Wellbeing built into the clock

Water and stretch reminders, the 20-20-20 eye rule, and an end-of-day wind-down. An attendance tool that pushes people to stop working is a strange idea until you have paid for burnout.

Listening rooms across the team

Shared focus music in sync across lofi, ambient, instrumental and nature, with presence showing who is deep in work right now.

Recognition in the same place

Kudos from colleagues sits beside the attendance record, so the system holds more than absence and lateness.

An assistant instead of a report builder

Ask who has stopped taking leave, or which team consistently starts late, and get an answer rather than a filtered export.

Custom reminders that stick

"Remind me to send the report by 4 PM." The companion holds it and raises it, without another app.

Because Insight by Hyring sits inside a hiring platform, attendance and capacity data feed directly into headcount planning. The question of whether a team needs another person stops being an argument and becomes a number.

What It Does Not Do

Three clear limits.

  • No statutory calculation. Requests, approvals, and balances against the policy you configure. Statutory entitlement calculation and payroll processing sit with your payroll provider.
  • No full HR suite. No appraisal cycles, case management, or onboarding workflow. If you need those, keep an HR platform and run this alongside it.
  • No shift or roster planning. Leave interacts with schedules in shift-based businesses, and we do not do scheduling.
